Most Americans (at least those who don't work for Corona) would probably be surprised to learn that Cinco de Mayo is not a significant holiday in Mexico. Shockingly, the day has been built up to its beer-drinking Super Bowl status in the United States by savvy marketing. Like Valentine's Day for cheep beer, Cinco de Mayo is really just an excuse to sell us booze on a worknight.
