WORST IDEA 11/6/10: Olbermann suspended for political contributions

Keith Olbermann is not a journalist. He's not fair and balanced or simply reading off a teleprompter. He's paid to have an opinion and that opinion is clearly liberal. It's sill to pretend otherwise. Is donating a few thousand dollars to some Democratic candidates shocking from someone who does an incredibly liberal show? I understand that supposedly unbiased journalists can't make political contributions, but applying that logic to Olbermann (who I like but don't always agree with) seems a little ridiculous.

Daniel,
Heard you are looking for a podcast producer (via craigslist) give me a shout at: mike@singlefeathermedia.com

Now, my comment:

Why is the whole news media in such an uproar over people like Oberman, Juan Williams, and that guy at CNN? (his name escapes me)

Yes, rules need to be followed. But the term "fair and balanced" for ANY news organization is truly a contradiction in and of itself.

It's been clear over the past 20 years that cable news network executives feel that simply just reporting on the news (ala the days of Walter kronkite) is boring, and that audience members want and need controversy.

Personally, I'll just take the news. If you are a leftist news organization, SAY you are liberal. Conversely (fox news) say you are to the right. Stop trying to insult my intellegence by trying to state you present the news in a balanced way. I'll decide if you are or not.
